Lost Gulch Overlook Engagement Photos

A dreamy sunset, just the right amount of wind and a mountain top kind of love. What could be better?

It was a crisp October evening when we headed up to Lost Gulch Overlook for Miquela and Brandon’s engagement photos. I love this spot because it isn’t too far from Denver, but still gives you those jaw-dropping views for a quintessential mountain engagement session!

Miquela and Brandon are set to get married at the Barn at Racoon Creek in October and I am so pumped to capture their day! I mean… just look at them!

For their one hour engagement session, they rocked two different outfits. I loved both! Brides, you can never go wrong with a black dress!

For their second outfit, they brought the fall vibes! I thought the red paired so well with the greens and blues this backdrop brings to the table.

If you’re thinking of taking your engagement photos at Lost Gulch Overlook, just know that it is rocky! I typically wear hiking boots and advise my clients to leave the heels in the car. Getting out to the edge of the overlook is doable (and so worth it… look at that epic dip kiss below), but takes some climbing. Working with a photographer who has been there before definitely has its perks! If you have a fear of heights, no shame. There are beautiful views all around, even if you don’t make it out to the edge.

As I’m looking back at their gallery, it’s so evident to me how comfortable these two are together. They were truly having the best time! I just happened to be there to capture it. And truly, that’s what it’s all about! I want to capture the real connection between two people, not something that is posed or forced.

Another thing that made this session so dreamy, was that Miquela fully embraced the wind! Lost Gulch Overlook is often windy, so if you’re thinking about a session there, be ready to embrace it just like these two! I know it can be hard to do that when you feel like your hair is all over the place, but truly it can make for some amazing photos. I’m obsessed with the results!

I was pumped to be Miquela and Brandon’s wedding photographer when they hired me, but after this session, I’m so excited I can hardly contain it! Stay tuned for some dreamy wedding photos coming your way this October.
