Denver Courthouse Elopement

From their sweet pup Ella to braving the afternoon rain, Stef and Dan’s courthouse elopement is one I’ll never forget!

Stef and Dan had a beautiful wedding in Italy, but a couple months before, they decided to make it official and take care of the legal side of things on the steps of the courthouse. I just love this concept because it means you get to celebrate twice!

The couple, along with their dog and immediate family, met me at the Byron White Courthouse to sign their marriage license and exchange rings. It was such an intimate and sweet afternoon!

I’ll always remember the moment after Stef and Dan finished signing their license. They looked up at their family and did a little cheer, as their family cheered back! After the witnesses signed the license, the couple exchanged their rings. Even though this wasn’t their “official” wedding day, it was still a special and emotional moment!

I love the joy in all the photos that followed.

Next up, we headed to Homegrown Tap and Dough, which is where Stef and Dan went for their first date. I loved this day because it was simple and laid back, but also really meaningful. Small details, like where you grab a beer, matter!

It pretty quickly started raining once we got to this second location, but Stef and Dan (and Ella) embraced it! I was so grateful for their go with the flow attitude, and of course for the clear umbrellas that I always have in the back of my car.

Some of these rainy photos are actually my favorite! I know it can feel overwhelming to think about rain during your wedding or session, but in reality it can be cozy and romantic, as long as you’re willing to embrace the elements!

Stef recently left this review on my Google page:

“Katie is an amazing photographer! From our first call, she was so easy to work with. I had reached out about 2 months before our requested date and Katie helped me with the logistics quickly and efficiently. She offered tips on where to start our photoshoot and was willing to drive around to multiple locations to capture my vision. The photos are BEAUTIFUL! It ended up pouring on us halfway through our photoshoot but Katie had cute umbrellas ready and the weather didn't phase her! She immediately thought of creative ways to continue our photoshoot and she was so patient when we wanted to involve our dog in some photos. She managed our entire family so well and everyone loved her. We are so thankful to have found Katie and can't wait to work with her on future family events!”

My goal is for my clients to have fun and feel comfortable, even in the pouring rain! I’m so dang grateful for Stef and Dan’s trust in me to capture their Denver courthouse elopement. Cheers to more days like this one!
