Mountain Maternity Photos in Golden, Colorado

A fresh blanket of snow, the perfect sunset and Madelynne’s sweet baby bump. Name a better trio… I’ll wait.

Typically when you’re booking an engagement session, family photos, etc you get to choose what season your photos will be taken during, but with maternity photos you’re at the mercy of when the bump is bumpin’.

Madelynne and Zach braved the January elements for some mountain maternity photos and the result is pure magic! We got so lucky with a fresh blanket of snow that sparkled in the sunlight.

Before we dive in, one note on maternity photos: If you’re a woman reading this, you may be thinking that this is the last thing you would want to do when you’re 8 months pregnant. Although I haven’t experienced it myself, I know pregnancy can be uncomfortable and it can be hard to find confidence in your new body. However, don’t let that stop you from documenting this special time in your life. It’s so fleeting and so beautiful! 30 years from now you’ll be grateful to have documented your bump and all the emotions you felt as you prepared to bring life into the world! And for the record, if you’re taking your maternity photos in the winter, we can always rent a studio.

For the first part of the session we had the most beautiful light pouring across the landscape. The scenery was oh so beautiful, but even more beautiful is the love Madelynne and Zach have for each other and baby Eden.

Being able to document families as they grow is the biggest honor.  Just look at the love that oozes from these images.

I personally think I saved the best part for last. Madelynne’s vision for the session was to do part of it with her bump out. Now, this would typically be more comfortable inside or in the summer, but she went for it and I’m SO glad she did.

This photo is one of my favorites ever taken. We were making our way back to the photo spot when I noticed the sky and asked Madelynne to stop right there. I just love everything about this moment: the femininity, the sky, her quiet confidence.

I thought the photos from the first part of the session were going to be my favorite, but it honestly just kept getting better and better! These two held each other close to stay warm and God painted the sky with some beautiful colors.

We ended the session up on the road which was so fun! I always make it a goal to get a variety of backdrops, even if we are just at one location.

I’m so grateful for Madelynne and Zach’s trust in me! Next up: newborn photos! Talk about a sweet, full circle moment.
