Rocky Mountain National Park Wedding

Erica and Frank’s November wedding was full of stunning views and celebration. I’m so excited to share it with you!

The couple, along with their two kids and immediate family, made the trip from Texas for this dreamy Rocky Mountain National Park wedding day! You really can’t go wrong with choosing Colorado to tie the knot.

Before heading into Rocky Mountain National Park, the couple got ready and had their first look at a nearby Airbnb. It was a calm, laid back morning!

I loved seeing the emotions start to flow between Erica and her mom when it was time to put on her wedding dress. We all laughed when her mom gave her a handkerchief through teary eyes that said “keep your shit together.”

Then, it was time for the bride and groom to see each other! First looks are always one of my favorite parts of a wedding day. There is so much anticipation leading up to it and it’s always so sweet to witness. I think Frank’s big smile says it all!

We all met up at the Bear Lake Trailhead in Rocky Mountain National Park for Erica and Frank to say “I do!” If you want to have your wedding in RMNP, there are designated ceremony sites. You can reserve a wedding site one year in advance of the month you want to get married in.

One of their sons officiated the ceremony and it was one of the most precious things I have seen in my whole career! The ceremony was short and sweet. This is a reminder that if a long ceremony and personal vows sounds intimidating, you don’t have to do it! Make your wedding day what you want it to be.

After signing the marriage license and making it officially official, I got to explore RMNP with the newlyweds! I have photographed a handful of elopements with kiddos and if that’s something you’re considering, don’t feel bad about wanting alone time with your spouse! It’s your wedding day after-all. It’s possible to include your kids while still enjoying time as a married couple. At Erica and Frank’s wedding, grandma and grandpa saved the day so we could have some time without the kids!

A Rocky Mountain National Park wedding is always a good idea because of the incredible backdrops you will get. As I mentioned earlier, you have to stick with one of the designated ceremony sites for the ceremony itself, but you can explore the park for additional photos! There’s nothing quite like the Colorado Rockies.

Elopements are wonderful because you can do things like get Dairy Queen after. So, that’s what we did! We met back up with Erica and Frank’s kids so they could enjoy some celebratory ice cream.

I am forever grateful to be a part of days like these. Cheers to The McKissack’s forever!
