Anniversary Photo Session at Blue Lakes in Breckenridge

No matter whose story I’m documenting, it’s always an honor, but I feel especially honored when my couples continue to work with me year after year!

I did my first session with Elise and Zack when I still lived in Missouri to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. And the past two years they have come to Colorado for a session! It’s a tradition that I look forward to each May.

Anniversary photos can be hard to keep up with and prioritize, but it’s so worth documenting your relationship! I think there is something really special about being able to look back on the ways your marriage grows and evolves. Even though a photo session doesn’t capture a whole year of memories, I think it can evoke nostalgia from that time in your life. I know when I look back at photos of my husband and I, it takes me right back to the season of life we were in! It helps me to remember and reflect.

This year, for Elise and Zack’s third anniversary photo session, we headed to Blue Lakes in Breckenridge! It’s a beautiful spot with stunning mountain views and a picturesque lake.

As we walked up the trail to the overlook, I felt something pelting my face and realized it was snowing! The snow was moving in at the tops of the mountains, right towards us. Thankfully it seemed to hang right there and never made its way down to the lake.

We took these photos at the end of May, which may be thought of as summer in Colorado, but at high elevations, expect snow! Colorado always keeps me on my toes.

We didn’t let the brisk temps or unpredictable weather stop us from having a dang good time!

Elise and Zack are easy to photograph because it’s so obvious they’re in love! I thought this session was a beautiful blend of romantic and playful moments.

They also fully trust me and my vision whenever we work together. There is no greater compliment than when I ask for my client’s preference on something and they respond with β€œwe trust you!” I don’t think these two have ever said no to any of my ideas. We were movin’ and groovin’ for most of their session, which is always my ideal! Photos are meant to be fun!

To Elise and Zack, thank you for trusting me year after year! I love documenting your love story as it continues to unfold. It’s such an honor! See ya next year!
